As Artes Visuais para uma aprendizagem interdisciplinar: Operacionalização em 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico

Abstract

O estudo do presente relatório de investigação cujo tema se centra nas Artes Visuais para uma aprendizagem interdisciplinar, em 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, tem como principal finalidade perceber o impacto das Artes Visuais para a aprendizagem dos alunos, a partir de uma prática educativa interdisciplinar. Ainda que esta seja uma área que os profissionais da educação deixam para segundo plano, a pertinência deste tema surge das demais potencialidades que as Artes Visuais podem despertar nos alunos, enquanto linguagem universal que desencadeia competências a todos os níveis, contribuindo para um maior rendimento escolar. Como forma de explorar esta temática, projetou-se a pergunta de partida “De que forma as Artes Visuais podem contribuir para uma aprendizagem interdisciplinar no 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico?”, para a qual se desenharam objetivos que passam por: identificar que competências podem ser desenvolvidas com a inclusão desta área; de que forma as Artes Visuais são trabalhadas no 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico; qual o valor que é atribuído às Artes Visuais no currículo; e qual a predisposição dos alunos para as Artes Visuais. Assim sendo, a investigação do trabalho é de tipo qualitativo, debruçando-se sobre entrevistas como técnica de recolha de dados, estas realizadas a professores e alunos do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, quer de instituições de cariz público quer de instituições de cariz privado, com o intuito de estabelecer uma comparação entre o tipo de instituição e entre a visão dos entrevistados. Neste sentido, as considerações tidas em conta face a esta temática permitiram conhecer e narrar realidades vividas em escolas do distrito do Porto. Em suma, as conclusões do estudo revelam que uma prática interdisciplinar com base nas Artes Visuais é fundamental no processo de ensino-aprendizagem, pelo que desenvolve competências globais nos alunos do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, aumentando a motivação e, por isso, o interesse e o empenho por parte dos mesmos no que se refere às múltiplas aprendizagens, ainda que se tenha constatado que existem profissionais da educação que não a valorizam nem a colocam em prática como seria previsto.

The study of this investigation report, whose theme focuses the Visual Arts for interdisciplinary learning, for the 1st cycle of Basic Education (meaning ages 5 to 9), holds the main purpose of understanding the impact of Visual Arts in the process of students learning through an interdisciplinary educational practice. Even with this being an area which educational professionals leave as background, the importance of this theme arises from all the qualities and abilities that Visual Arts may awake in our students as an universal language with the ability of unleashing skills at all levels, contributing to a better school performance. To explore this subject, the main question was “How can Visual Arts contribute to an interdisciplinary learning in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education?”, from which goals were designed for: identifying which skills may be developed with the inclusion of this art; how are Visual Arts explored on the 1st Cycle of Basic Education; what level of importance is given to Visual Arts in the curriculum; and which is the students’ predisposition for Visual Arts. Therefore, this report’s investigation is of qualitative type, concentrating on interviews as data collectors, on both teachers and students of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, either from public or private institutions, in order to establish a comparison term between the type of institution and the interviewees’ point of view. In this sense, the considerations taken into account regarding this subject allowed to understand and narrate the realities lived in the schools of the Oporto’s district. In short, this study’s conclusions reveal that an interdisciplinary practice based on Visual Arts is key in the teaching – learning process, since it allows for general skills development in primary school students, increasing their motivation and, therefore, interest and commitment when it comes to multiple learning, even though it has been found that some educational professionals do not value or practice it as expected.
