Representações sociais do envelhecimento ativo

Abstract

Em pleno século XXI, o envelhecimento da população portuguesa é uma realidade cada vez mais acentuada, que tem vindo a ser alvo de atenção na nossa sociedade. É precisamente esta amplificação do envelhecimento que tem vindo a desafiar não apenas governos, mas também famílias e profissionais, a encontrar ofertas que proporcionem condições de vida dignas e com qualidade, aos seus idosos. Perante esta realidade começa a valorizar-se, cada vez mais, o Envelhecimento Ativo, tema deste trabalho de projeto, que visa a melhoria das condições de saúde, a participação e segurança, de forma a proporcionar uma melhor qualidade de vida aos idosos. O presente trabalho de projeto tem como objetivo principal perceber qual a perceção dos idosos do CCOP sobre o Envelhecimento Ativo, assim como se, na opinião dos mesmos, a instituição que frequentam lhes proporciona Envelhecimento Ativo. No fundo o objetivo é ouvir a opinião dos próprios idosos, a fim de se retirarem ilações. Para melhor complementar este trabalho de projeto, optou-se por ouvir também a opinião do presidente do CCOP, sobre o mesmo assunto. A fim de se alcançarem estes objetivos, optou-se por utilizar uma metodologia mista, em concreto, o método qualitativo (entrevistas) e o método quantitativo (inquéritos), de forma a verificar as hipóteses formuladas na pesquisa com maior exatidão, assim como abranger uma amostra mais significativa. De realçar que da confrontação entre a literatura da especialidade e os resultados obtidos, mais do que conclusões surgiram inquietações, reflexões e futuras linhas de investigação, que apontam não só para a necessidade de reformulação de políticas, medidas e estratégias rumo a um Envelhecimento Ativo, mas também para a valorização desta faixa etária, que nos próximos anos assumirá, sem dúvida, uma forte importância na regulação global das nossas sociedades. Com a Intervenção Comunitária pretende-se não apenas intervir na comunidade, mas sim, com a comunidade, no sentido de envolver os próprios intervenientes no processo de reflexão, ajustamento e melhoramento, dentro daquilo que é desejável e possível.

In the twenty-first century, the ageing of Portuguese population is an increasingly sharp reality, which has been the subject of attention in our society. It is precisely this ageing amplification that has been challenging not only for governments, but also families and professionals, to find offers that provide decent living conditions and quality to their elderly. Faced with this reality Active Ageing, subject of this research, is increasingly valued, which aims to improve the health, participation and security in order to provide a better quality of life for the elderly. This research aims to understand perceptions perception of the elderly participants of the CCOP on Active Ageing, as well as if the institution provides them attending Active Ageing activities. In the background the goal is to hear the views of older people themselves in order to withdraw conclusions. To further complement this research, it was decided to also hear the opinion of the president of the CCOP, on the same subject. In order to achieve these objectives, a mixed methodology was used, in particular, the qualitative method (interviews) and quantitative method (surveys) in order to verify the assumptions made in research with greater accuracy, as well as cover a more significant sample. Note that the confrontation between the literature and the results brought more than conclusions. It also led to emerged concerns, reflections and future lines of research, pointing not only to the need to reform policies, measures and strategies towards an Active Ageing, but also for the development of this age group, which in the coming years will take undoubtedly a strong importance in the global regulation of our societies. With Community Intervention it is intended to not only intervene in the community, but with the community, to involve stakeholders own the process of reflection, adjustment and improvement, within what is desirable and possible.
